This print from the same set, the Icones ad Vivum expressae (‘Images taken from Life’), shows a young man tenderly touching the face of a girl. The faces are subtly engraved with swelling and tapering lines. All the prints were dedicated to Venetian noblemen or patrons, in this case to Joseph Smith.
