RCIN 2914532
Otto I of Greece, the second son of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, ruled Greece from 1832 to 1862. His reign was beset with problems and in October 1862, a few months after the Prince’s visit, a coup overthrew the monarchy. Otto and his wife were exiled to Bavaria, where this portrait was taken.
