An extremely popular format in 16th and 17th century Europe

Queen Charlotte commissioned a large flower mural from Mary Moser to decorate a room at Frogmore House, now known as the ‘Mary Moser Room’. This canvas may have formed part of this display. However, its imagery has a strong emphasis on the Garter which suggests it would have been suitable for a more formal space within Windsor Castle, rather than a garden retreat like Frogmore.
