Around the perimeter of the East Terrace Garden, you will find four urns with covers depicting the four seasons, by the Dutch artist Willem Van Mieris. Dated to the beginning of the eighteenth century, they were bought by George IV in 1825 for £472 and 10 shillings. Summer, depicted here, has a cover decorated with leaves in high relief, the body decorated in figures representing summer.
