Sir Theodore Turquet de Mayerne was a celebrated French physician who arrived in England in 1606. He was appointed Physician to Queen Anne of Denmark, consort of James VI and I, and in 1611 he became Royal Physician to the King himself. He was later Physician to Charles I and Queen Henrietta Maria. The doctor is chiefly remembered for his influence on medical administration.
