HENDRICK POT (HAARLEM C.1585-AMSTERDAM 1657)

Charles I, Henrietta Maria and Charles, Prince of Wales (later Charles II)

RCIN 405541

It was presumably Charles I who brought the Dutchman Hendrick Pot to London in 1632 and who commissioned this group portrait, as well as Lady and Gentleman in an Interior (cat. 18 – displayed next door in the red gallery). This group portrait left the collection at an unknown time, most likely as a gift, and was re-acquired by George IV. Acquired by George IV in 1814
