    The Royal Collection also holds a unique collection of private portraits. This photograph was taken in 1929 by King George VI (r.1936–52), then Duke of York, and shows his three-year-old daughter, the future Queen Elizabeth II, playing in the garden by a bed of Madonna lillies.
