This Sèvres soft paste porcelain pot-pourri vase in the shape of a ship is one of the rarest and most distinctive pieces of Sèvres porcelain in the Royal Collection. It originally belonged to Madame de Pompadour, Louis XV's mistress, and was acquired by George IV in Paris in 1817 for 2,500 francs.
