San|Bushmen hunter-gatherers of southern Africa use ostrich shells to store water in times of drought. This shell is painted with four stylised hunters. San|Bushmen rock paintings are among the oldest forms of art. 

Presented to Queen Elizabeth II by H.E. Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the Republic of Namibia, during his official visit to the United Kingdom, 2007.
