Raffle Leaf Bolection

RCIN 7402623

Appearing from the second half of the seventeenth century the Raffle leaf frame is one of the most common styles in the Royal Collection; a reverse-section profile with a broad acanthus-and-tongue panel. This design recurs throughout the centuries and in the nineteenth century many replicas in this style were made with ornament moulded in composition rather than carved in wood.
