Katherine Willoughby Brandon, Duchess of Suffolk (1519-80)

Katherine Brandon was the fourth wife of Charles Brandon, having been his ward when he was married to Mary Tudor, sister to Henry VIII, and was herself rumoured to be under consideration as a ninth wife for the King. As the daughter of Baron Willoughby de Eresby, she was heir to a large Lincolnshire estate, allowing her husband to become the preeminent figure in the county (where he was crucial in quashing the Lincolnshire rebellion of 1536). Her husband was considered so important by Henry VIII that he was buried at St George's Chapel, Windsor. The Duchess died at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire.
