To Honour and Respect: Gifts from the Michi Saagiig Women to the Prince of Wales, 1860

16 April – 19 November 2023

Thirteen Indigenous birchbark baskets are on display in their ancestral lands for the first time in 160 years, as part of an exhibition at the Peterborough Museum & Archives, Ontario, Canada.

The baskets are embroidered with brightly-dyed porcupine quills and were presented to the Prince of Wales by Michi Saagiig women during the first royal tour of Canada in 1860.
