Guido Reni at the Museo del Prado [Madrid]

Guido Reni
28 March – 9 July 2023
The great Bolognese artist Guido Reni was one of the most successful and celebrated painters in Europe during the early seventeenth century and his works were avidly collected for two centuries after his death. First shown at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, this version of the exhibition will have an emphasis on Reni’s influence of Spanish artists. The painting of Cleopatra with the asp from the Royal Collection is being shown alongside the Prado’s version in a section of the exhibition devoted to exploring Reni’s practice of repeating compositions.
