Reframed: The Woman in the Window
4 May – 4 September 2022
This exhibition explores the motif of the ‘woman in the window’ from its origins in ancient Mycenae through to the present day. Taking the subject of Dulwich’s own Girl at a Window by Rembrandt as a jumping-off point, the exhibition situates this enigmatic work within a broader context, connecting it to the long visual history to which it belongs. The Royal Collection has loaned a folio of prints from the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection, including Marcantonio Raimondi’s engraving of a Woman by a window, c.1520, which reproduces a drawing (now in the Uffizi, Florence) attributed to Raphael.
