before 8 Jun 1835

Baron von Humbolt was a Prussian representative at the Congress of Vienna. He is portrayed without orders or medals, showing him pensive and intellectual rather than diplomatic or courtly. At Lawrence's death only the head was complete and the portrait was finished by Richard Evans.
