The Grand Corridor, Windsor Castle

The setting is the Grand Corridor, built for George IV to display choice paintings, sculptures and furniture. Figures probably intended to be Queen Victoria and her second daughter, Princess Alice, are just walking into view. Nash painted several watercolours of spaces in Windsor Castle for Victoria and Albert which generally included figures or domestic objects, illustrating the dual nature of the castle as a family home and important royal residence.
