    Prince Albert was fascinated by the casting of metals by electro-deposit. The table top is an electrotype copy of a sixteenth-century pewter dish showing Temperance, the Elements, the Liberal Arts and Minerva.

    Purchased by Prince Albert, and presented to Queen Victoria on her birthday, 24 May 1850
