CHARLES BROCKY (1807-55)

Prince Albert

1841

RCIN 450456

This sensitive portrait and its pair demonstrate Brocky’s talent for capturing the character of his sitters: his skill won the admiration of Landseer among others. The portrait shows the Prince’s frank gaze, which was described as ‘bewitching’ by the Duchess of Bedford.
