Miriam's Song of Praise

On the banks of the Red Sea with the Pyramids in the distance, the prophetess Miriam leads a dance to celebrate the victory of the Israelites over the Pharoah’s army. The model for Miriam was the artist’s wife Fanny, herself a composer and sister of the celebrated Felix Mendelssohn.
