Design for a salver with Neptune in the centre

The trident, beard and long hair identify the central figure as Neptune, god of the sea. He is shown surveying his marine kingdom, accompanied by his wife, the sea-nymph Amphitrite, in a cockle shell and their son, Triton, blowing into a conch-shell.
