The Royal family at the Badminton Horse Trials

13 Apr 1962

RCIN 2943898

The first Horse Trials at Badminton were held in 1949 by the 10th Duke of Beaufort in order to let British riders train for future international events. They were advertised as ‘the most important horse event in Britain’. The Royal Family regularly attends Badminton, and is seen here sitting on the grass watching competitors at the water jump. From left to right: Princess Anne, The Queen, Princess Margaret, Lord Snowdon, the Duke of Beaufort, and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
