Scott was a keen journal writer. He filled twelve notebooks with his daily doings and impressions throughout the Terra Nova expedition. After his death the notebooks were returned to Kathleen Scott, who gave them to Leonard Huxley (the publisher’s chief editor) to arrange for publication. Scott’s Last Expedition was published in November 1913 and sold very well, requiring five print runs between publication and February 1914.
