The biologist on board the Endurance, Robert Clark was born and educated at Aberdeen. He became a Zoologist at the Scottish Oceanographical Laboratory in Edinburgh, where he was able to work on some of the specimens from the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition 1902-4. He collected a large number of zoological specimens in 1914-15, but unfortunately lost them all on the sinking of the Endurance.
