Cigarette case

Two-colour gold, guilloché enamel, brilliant and rose-cut diamonds | RCIN 40113

The case represents one of Fabergé's greatest expressions of the Art Nouveau style, with its sinuous diamond-set snake entwined around the front and back of the box. It was given to King Edward VII by his favourite mistress, Mrs George Keppel, in 1908.

All four members of the family purchased works from Tiffany, Cartier and Fabergé, whose opulent objets de luxe are archetypes of the Edwardian era.
