Emperor Alexander III, his wife and five children are shown in a close-knit group, after they escaped uninjured when the Imperial train was derailed returning to St Petersburg from the Crimea. On the reverse, an angel protecting Russia personified shows that this was seen as the result of Divine intervention.

Given to HRH The Prince of Wales for the Royal Collection by Princess Bagration-Moukhransky, 2006.
