Tapa cloth

Three pieces of tapa cloth made in the islands of the Pacific Ocean. They are created from the inner lining of tree bark, layered, dried and then painted and stencilled with traditional geometric patterns in brown and black paint. They are used on ceremonial occasions in the Pacific islands.
