Fishermen on the Sea-shore

This empty overcast scene conveys the bleak and unrelenting life of the fishermen, selling their meagre haul on a sandbank. The damp chill atmosphere is suggested through a unified almost monochrome palette of greys and blues – touches of brown and red occur only in the foreground.
