MARCUS ADAMS (1875-1959)

Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret with Dookie, 18 March 1941

18 Mar 1941

RCIN 2943731

Adams imposed on himself a rule that he would not work with subjects over sixteen years of age (although he did allow parents to appear with their children). Adams' last sitting with the Princesses was in March 1941 at Windsor Castle, where they were based for much of the war. They are pictured with their corgi, Dookie, who had also featured in the 1938 photography session at Buckingham Palace.
