This photograph is from Adams’s final royal sitting – with Princess Anne in the summer of 1956. The Princess was about to celebrate her sixth birthday; Marcus Adams was over eighty. Her dress is of white broderie anglaise, and she wears the pearl necklace that King George VI had given The Queen when she was a child.
