National Curriculum, England & Wales

Curriculum for Excellence, Scotland

Ready, aim, fire! Explosive engineering

In this activity, students will test the accuracy of Leonardo's diagram of projectile motion by building a catapult and taking accurate measurements of the flight of a ball through the air.

Brilliant bodies

Students will create a diagram of the body as Leonardo observed it and a life-size diagram of where we now know the organs to be. They will compare his understanding with our reality and ask how, 500 years ago, he was able to be so accurate.

Thinking boats: Design and pitch

In this activity, students have the opportunity to test and develop some of Leonardo's designs. Taking on the role of Leonardo and following scientific testing, students will pitch their unique boat design to a patron, in the hope of securing an income.

Leonardo: Celebrate and share

Launch your own mini museum of Leonardo studio to show-off class achievements. Invite families to enjoy students' work.

The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity. The aims of The Royal Collection Trust are the care and conservation of the Royal Collection, and the promotion of access and enjoyment through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational activities.
