Armour (dōmaru)

Shakudo, gold filigree, enamel, silk, leather | RCIN 61765

Elements of two or three armours have been combined to create an impressive diplomatic gift. The outstanding 62-plate helmet, made in 1537, is signed by Myōchin Nobuie, who was part of a prolific school of armourers stretching back to the twelfth century.
