THOMAS ROWLANDSON (1757-1827)
Dressing for a Birthday.
3 Mar 1788RCIN 810267
Royal birthday celebrations were lavish affairs. Rowlandson shows a group of women dressing in the latest fashions for the event. Our amusement at the scene is shared by the young boy (holding the mirror) and the dog, who laugh conspiratorially at the scene.
Purchased by George IV when Prince of Wales, 1790
