RCIN 50426

The foundation stone of the new gateway at Windsor Castle was laid by George IV himself on his 62nd birthday, 12 August 1824, using this small silver trowel. According to the engraved inscription, the King then presented the trowel to the architect, Sir Jeffry Wyatville.
