Uniform and Hat of Commodore of the Sea Rangers

Princess Elizabeth enrolled as a Girl Guide in 1937 at the age of 11. Senior Guides were known as Rangers and for those with a strong naval interest a separate unit, known as the Sea Rangers, was established which Princess Elizabeth joined on 23 February 1943. During the Second World War the work of the Rangers contributed to the war effort. Princess Elizabeth was made a Sea Ranger Commodore in 1945.
