The Sri Ranganathaswamy temple complex in Tamil Nadu is one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. This pen-andink drawing is part of a series made by local artists in the service of Colin Mackenzie, the first Surveyor-General of the East India Company. It depicts one of the colossal painted brick gopurums (entrance towers) of the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple.
