The History of the Royal Society of London for the Improving of Natural Knowledge

RCIN 1057783

This early history of the Royal Society justifies its methods and records the Fellows' first experiments. Its dedication to the king emphasises the role his support had in the Society's success. The frontispiece, featuring a bust of Charles being crowned by Fame, was designed by John Evelyn and etched by Wenceslaus Hollar.
