RCIN 805283

Hollar's bird's-eye view of Edinburgh takes in the entire city, from the castle on its rocky outcrop to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official royal residence in Scotland. During the Commonwealth, when occupied by Parliamentarian troops, the Palace was damaged by fire. In the 1670s the Palace was remodelled and transformed into a magnificent royal residence.
