Pietro Longhi and everyday life

Pietro Longhi made many paintings of everyday life in Venice. This pair shows two lovers taking breakfast and a game of blind man’s buff, representing the blindness and confusion caused by love. Longhi’s paintings were popular with Venetian collectors.
