Zanetti was in contact with scholars and collectors across Europe, sending them impressions of his prints and dedicating some of those prints to his friends. The prints here are inscribed to Joseph Smith, the English and Venetian collectors Andrew Fountaine and Zaccharia Sagredo, and the second Duke of Devonshire, who had showed Zanetti his collection of earlier chiaroscuro prints during the artist’s visit to England.
