A watercolour showing Mary, Queen of Scots going to her execution. She is shown full-length, standing and facing left in profile. She is looking down towards her steward Sir Amias Paulet, who is kneeling in front of her and holding her wrist. She is holding a crucifix in one hand and a handkerchief in the other. Her two female servants are shown weeping behind to the right. Inscribed lower right: Victoria Princess. Rl. Xmas 1854
