A watercolour showing a girl asleep at her spinning wheel. The girl is shown full-length, seated and facing forward with her head resting on one hand. She is seated in a cottage doorway with her spinning wheel in front of her. Two of the legs of the spinning wheel are propped up on bricks, with one inscribed: V.P.R. Jany [sic] 1st 1857
Queen Victoria's children often made cards and drawings for their parents as gifts for important dates, such as this watercolour executed by Victoria, Princess Royal for New Year's Day 1857.
