Rosneath Castle was one of the family homes of Princess Louise's husband, John Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll. Princess Louise purchased the house from her father-in-law in 1895 and made many much needed improvements. The princess spent a good deal of her time at Rosneath after the death of her husband in 1914, often sketching and painting in the gardens, and remained a favourite residence until her death in 1939.
This drawing is housed in an album of drawings by Princess Louise. For other items in the volume see Princess Louise Album 2. -
