Princess Louise stayed at Pension Wallis, Lucerne, with her mother, Queen Victoria, from 7 August to 9 September 1868. The Queen wanted to see the Alps, which her beloved Prince Albert had visited before their marriage, and her doctors had also advised the Queen that the fresh air would be good for her health.
