Another version of RCIN 980029.ct. A watercolour showing a view of the grounds of the Château de Saint-Cloud, Paris. An tree-lined avenue is shown in the centre, stretching into the distance. A small striped tent is shown in the foreground to the left. Inscribed lower left: View from St. Cloud. - Aug: 24 - 1855. Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their eldest two children stayed in the Château de Saint-Cloud as guests of Napoleon III from 18-27 August 1855. Queen Victoria describes in her journal entry of 24 August 1855 how she "Sketched a little in one of the rooms, from which there is a lovely view looking up the long avenue".
