A watercolour showing a view of Loch Ryan. The sea loch is shown in the foreground, with the Scottish coast shown to the right. A lighthouse is shown on the shore and two sailing boats are shown to the left. Inscribed below: Loch Ryan VR del on board the V. & A. Aug: 16 - 1847. Queen Victoria visited Scotland with her family during August and September 1847, touring the Western Isles and then staying at Ardverikie Shooting-Lodge. The Queen left Osborne House with Prince Albert and their two eldest children on 11 August 1847 and sailed up the West coast of England and around Wales to Scotland, anchoring at Loch Ryan on 16 August 1847, before arriving at Ardverikie on 21 August 1847.
