A watercolour showing a view of Douglas, Isle of Man. Two views of the Isle of man are shown, the upper view shows two towers at the end of headland. The lower view shows the town of Douglas on the shore to the right. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Douglas - Isle of Man. VR del on board the V.& A. - Aug: 16 - 1847. Queen Victoria visited Scotland with her family during August and September 1847, touring the Western Isles and then staying at Ardverikie Shooting-Lodge. The Queen left Osborne House with Prince Albert and their two eldest children on 11 August 1847 and sailed up the West coast of England and around Wales to Scotland, passing the Isle of Man on 16 August 1847, before arriving at Ardverikie on 21 August 1847.
