A watercolour showing a view of the Isle of Man. The sea is shown in the lower foreground, with the Island shown behind. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Coast of the Isle of Man & [?before] [illegible word] coming to Douglas - VR del on board the V. & A. Aug: 16. 1847. Queen Victoria visited Scotland with her family during August and September 1847, touring the Western Isles and then staying at Ardverikie Shooting-Lodge. The Queen left Osborne House with Prince Albert and their two eldest children on 11 August 1847 and sailed up the West coast of England and around Wales to Scotland, passing the Isle of Man on 16 August 1847, before arriving at Ardverikie on 21 August 1847.
