A watercolour showing a view of The Longships, off the Cornish coast. The sea is shown in the foreground, with the rocky islets shown rising up behind. A lighthouse is shown on a rock in the centre and the Cornish coast is shown faintly in the background. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Long Ships Rocks - off Cornwall. VR del - Sept: 5. 1846. On board the V. & A. - under Weigh - On 2 September 1846, Queen Victoria sailed from Osborne House to Jersey with her husband, Prince Albert and some of their children. The Royal family anchored off the island until the evening of 4 September 1846 when they sailed on to Cornwall, anchoring at Falmouth Harbour before sailing along the Cornish coast the next day.
