A watercolour showing a view of the Jersey Coast, probably at Norman Point. The sea is shown in the foreground, with the coast shown behind. A sunrise is shown in the background. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Isle of Jersey - Albert del. Sept: 3. 1846. begun on board & finished afterwards. On 2 September 1846, Queen Victoria sailed from Osborne House to Jersey with her husband, Prince Albert and some of their children. The Royal family anchored off the island until 5 September 1846. In her journal entry of 3 September 1846, Queen Victoria describes how she and Prince Albert "both sketched [from the Royal Yacht] & Albert did a beautiful sketch of Norman Point".
