A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape looking towards the Dubh Loch. The Allt-an-Dubh-Loch is shown flowing through a glen to the left of the foreground. A hill is shown to the right and further hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: Oct: 17. 1878 Glassalt looking up towards the Dhu [sic] Loch. Queen Victoria stayed at the Glas-Allt-Shiel from 14 to 18 October 1878 with her daughter Princess Beatrice. In her journal entry of 17 October 1878, the Queen describes how she "Sketched a view looking up towards the Dhu Loch, while Beatrice walked up the whole way to the Loch & back".
